Advantages of the I-ACS automatic washing system
The I-ACS Automatic Washing System is an advanced solution designed to optimize ink supply and cleaning of printing units in flexographic and gravure processes. Available in single or dual pump versions, this system ensures a constant and adjustable flow of ink into the doctor blade chamber, guaranteeing an adequate volume for correct ink delivery. At the end of the printing job, the I-ACS allows efficient cleaning of the entire ink circuit, which can be carried out simultaneously on all printing units. Available versions:
- Basic Version: With a single gravity delivery and return pump.
- Full version: With double pump that ensures internal pressure in the scraper chamber and optimizes solvent/water consumption and cleaning times.
Operation of the I-ACS Automatic Washing System
The I-ACS Automatic Washing System uses a combination of pneumatic pumps and solvent/water reuse techniques to optimize both ink delivery and the cleaning process of the printing units.
1. Ink Supply:
- Initial Pumping: A pneumatic pump takes ink from the standard bucket and propels it into the doctor blade chamber.
- Controlled flow: The pump’s working frequency can be adjusted to ensure a constant and adjustable flow, avoiding any overpressure problems that could cause overflows.
2. Cleaning process
- Circuit emptying: At the end of the printing job, the system performs a complete emptying of the ink circuit and the doctor blade chamber. Most of the ink is recovered and returned to the bucket for reuse in future jobs.
- First cleaning (reuse): An external pump introduces solvent or water (depending on the type of ink) that has been used in previous cleanings. This solvent/water circulates through the system to remove ink residue.
- Solvent/Water Recovery: The solvent/water used in the first cleaning is removed from the system by another pump and stored in a tank for future reuse.
- Second cleaning (rinse): In a second cycle, the system uses clean solvent/water for a final rinse, ensuring complete removal of ink residue from the circuit and doctor blade chamber.
This double-cycle process, using both reused and new solvent/water, ensures efficient and effective cleaning, while minimizing resource consumption, without compromising the quality of the result.

Up to 80% time savings when cleaning Anilox cylinders with I-Lac machines
Cleaning anilox cylinders has always been one of the biggest concerns for flexo printers. If the cylinders are not perfectly clean, their transfer capacity is reduced and therefore the color intensity of the print is lost, with the consequences for the production that this can have: invalid prints, longer start-up times, etc. I-LAC solves this problem effectively thanks to the laser that removes the dried ink from the inside of the cells without damaging the cylinder cells. A specially designed optical laser vaporizes any residue and cleans away dried ink, adhesives, waxes, silicones, etc. Laser technology allows cleaning without exerting any mechanical or thermal action on the anilox cylinder, which allows us to clean even after each use and preserve the useful life of the anilox rollers for much longer.
We have I-LAC machines with measurements from 500 mm in length to 3500 mm (cylinder without shafts), and special measurements can be adapted according to needs.
